Back in June, when Banbury was a warmer, drier place, it seemed odd that BCP should be talking “Pantomime”. However, it was then that Liz Riley (BCP’s Panto doyenne) had the unenviable task of deciding which script to choose. After much deliberation, the final decision was made and BCP launched into preparations for PAUL REAKES’ fantastic family Panto Babes in the Wood.
Auditions and casting took place in the Summer and rehearsals began in September. Chorus rehearsals have been going strong at the Christopher Rawlins school, Adderbury including one night on the car-park when the caretaker forgot to let them in!
With a cast of 34 (ranging in age from 9 to 83), our Costume department are going to be busy finding suitable attire for the Sheriff of Nottingham, Robin Hood (and his Merry Men) not to mention Nurse Nitwit, Nausea Nightshade (the wicked witch) and, so rumour has it, a Ghostly Demon!
At the time of going to press, Robin Hood is rehearsing on crutches (a sports injury gained, we understand, working on some fancy new sword moves!) but he is well on the way to recovery for the opening night.
In what is fast becoming a tradition for BCP Panto, there is a Costume Competition at every performance. So whether it’s a pretty Maid Marian or a swashbuckling Robin Hood do come and join in the fun at this Traditional Family panto.
