THE Chancellor has confirmed that the Stamp Duty holiday on homes worth up to £175,000 will end on 31st December. But David Wilson Mercia is extending its offer into 2010 to scrap the tax on all its homes up to £250,000.
This effectively means that the majority of David Wilson homes in The Four Shires will continue to be exempt from Stamp Duty because David Wilson could pay it on their buyers’ behalf.
“When people want to move home, Stamp Duty is an additional cost which can sometimes make the difference between being able to afford it or not,” said Julia Higgins, Sales Manager for David Wilson Mercia.
“So it’s not good news for anyone looking to buy in 2010 that the Government is ending the exemption period on propertiesworth up to £175,000.”
“If you decide to buy a new home in the New Year, however, you could still effectively pay no Stamp Duty on a home worth up to £250,000. This is a great opportunity for anyone thinking of moving."
